Hey, Guys! So, unfortunately, I have actually been quite sick this past week and I haven’t really been able to do much, but I won’t let that get me down, so I decided to focus this weeks blog post on positivity. There are so many reasons why you should stay positive, keeping positive is said to have many health benefits and also give you more energy, it will also help you gain confidence and motivate yourself! Some days I do struggle to keep positive but here are a few ways that have helped me…
I. LOVE. TO. READ. Reading is definitely one of my favourite hobbies (if not my absolute faveourite!). Sometimes it is hard to find the time to sit down and read a book, but I do try as often as I can to read, instead of watching the TV I’ll try my best to opt for a good book instead (I am actually planning a couple of blog posts around some of my favourite books so keep an eye out for those!). However, I do understand that reading isn’t for everyone and a lot of people don’t like to sit down and read a book, and that’s okay!
Getting a hobby
If reading isn’t your thing I think you need to find a hobby that suits you. There are so many out there, some people like sport, other people prefer yoga, some people like reading, other people prefer photography, you just have to find out what suits you best. This can be difficult but there are so many things that you can try, and if you don’t like it, at least you tried it!
Spend time with loved ones
This one might seem a little bit obvious, but too often we find ourselves locked away in our bedrooms on our phones or our computers without any interaction from anybody. Now, don’t get me wrong I’m not saying shut down your computers and throw away your phones but it’s all about balance. Cutting down on screen time and spending more time with your family and friends will make you feel more positive without you even noticing!
I just want to say that I am not by any means a gym fanatic, however, I do try my best to go when I can and if I don’t have time to go to the gym I’ll bring my dog for a walk instead or go for a quick jog. Somedays it’s hard to find the motivation and other days you would just rather sit at home with a pizza and it’s normal to have those days, but I do think that exercise makes everyone feel better about themselves and therefore makes them more positive (it’s a win-win!).
Try and always have something to look forward to
I think this is probably one of the best ways to stay positive. Looking forward to something, whether it’s something small or something big, it can be very encouraging. All Summer I was looking forward to going on holidays with my boyfriend, now that we’re back I’m looking forward to going back to University in September, and by that time I’ll make sure to have something else to look forward to and it just keeps going on and on. It’s a great way to stay positive!
You do you
Simple. Wake up and brush your hair and brush your teeth, get dressed and do what makes you happy. If wearing makeup makes you happy, do it. If shopping for new clothes makes you happy, do it. If meeting new people makes you happy, do it. Nothing should stop you from doing what makes you happy!
